- W2362959162 abstract "Objective:To investigate the effect of chlorosulfonic acids on the synthesis of Angeli- ca polysaccharide sulfate (APS) and assess the APS activities against L6565 murine retrovirus.Meth- ods:Angelica sinensis polysaccharide was sulfated using a chlorosulfonic acid-pyridine method;the ester sulfate level was turbidimetrically measured in barium sulfate.An AIDS model of mice was set up by in- fecting infant mice with L6565 murine leukemia virus.The viral load in plasma was measured using a quantitative RT-PCR method.The percentages of CD_4~+ and CD_8~+ lymphocytes were count using a flowcy- tometric method to determine the ratio of CD_4~+/CD_8~+.Results:Eight derivatives of APS with different sulfur content (9.37%～17.14%) were synthesized.The yield was 73.7%～88.4%.Compared with the model mice,the mice treated with APS 10 and 30 mg·kg~(-1) had significant reduction of the viral load in plasma,and significant increase of the percentage of CD_4~+ lymphocyte and the ratio of CD_4~+/CD_8~+. APS showed activities against the retrovirus as well as the immunomodulative effect.Conclusion:The ra- tio of chlorosulfonic acid in the initial reactants was positively proportional to the sulfur level in the final products,but the inversely to the final yields.APS is warranted to further test the effect against AIDS." @default.
