- W2363254890 abstract "High strength bolted end plate connections can be simulated by different finite element methods.This paper gives a comparative study on ANSYS finite element simulation methods of the typical connections.Simple T-stub model and complex example model are established to analyze the performance of the connections.By comparing the finite element unit numbers,difficulty or facility of models and calculating cost,the characteristics of all kinds of finite element simulation methods are analyzed.Compared with the results of the test,the best simulation method of high strength bolted end plate connections is suggested.The studies show that the method by gluing the different plate together has the advantages of simple model establishment,but the strength and stiffness of the connecting plates will be expanded greatly.According to calculation result of this method,stress and displacement will be lessthan the accurate results.Using the method of coupling the nodes at the screw holes on different plates,the performance of connections is closer to the practical situation.But one of disadvantages of this method is that the distortion in stress and displacement on the coupling nodes is significant.The method considering contacts on the plates and applying pretension loads on the bolts is the most complicated in modeling and requires the maximum calculating cost among the three methods.But the result is reasonable and in agreement with practical situation." @default.
