- W2363825908 abstract "The Yellow River Delta is a typical ecosystem of littoral wetland in estuary,vegetation in the newly created wetland is in the initial stage of coming into existence and development.Compared with other ecosystems,plant species diversity of this region is poor;the vegetation of this area is easily destroyed by human disturbance and difficult to be restored.However,unreasonable exploitation and use of natural resources have exerted serious pressures on the newly created wetland vegetation.Protecting the environment and restore the damaged ecosystem is a very important task for local people and government.The aim of this research is to investigate the relationship between one kind of typical vegetation(Suaeda heteroptera) and environment and predicting its potential distribution in the Yellow River Delta.The prediction and mapping of potential natural vegetation are of instructive to the ecological restoration planning in this region.The data of vegetation and soil environment factors were achieved by field investigation,a total of 641 vegetation samples and 964 soil samples were collected.The soil organic matter content,total phosphor content,total salt content and soluble potassium content were analyzed and then were interpolated into spatial raster data by using Kriging interpolation methods.In addition,the digital elevation model,soil type map and landform map of the Yellow River Delta were also collected.Based on the data collected,the Generalized Additive Models were employed to build vegetation-environment model and then to simulate the regional potential natural vegetation,this method is also a new approach to quantitative study of relationship between vegetation and environment.The GAMs modeling indicates the distribution of Suaeda heteroptera is mainly controlled by the total soil salt content,total soil phosphor content and elevation.Those three environmental factors were selected as parameters in the GAMs vegetation-environment models.A map is produced in ArcView using a lookup table generated in GRASP module(based on GAMs),showing the distribution probability of Suaeda heteroptera in the Yellow River Delta.From this map,it can be seen that Suaeda heteroptera is distributed in the low area with low groundwater level and high soil salt content,usually near the seashore.The AUC value of validation and cross-validation of ROC curve are both higher than 0.8,this suggested that the established model had good ability for the vegetation distribution prediction,which was significant for the planning of vegetation restoration." @default.
