- W2363881363 abstract "【Objective】The purpose of this study was to investigate the influence of different cultivation methods on the pathway. It looked at the amount of nutrients lost under different rain intensity in the purple hilly area . It also aimed to provide theoretical evidence in improving soil fertility and nutrient loss control on sloping farmlands in purple area.【 Method】 A completely randomized block design was employed in the experiment with three different artificial rain intensities (slight, medium and heavy), three cultivation methods (contour, ridge and flat cultivation) and three replications. 【Result】The amounts of both surface and total runoff were combined with rain intensity, while the underground runoff was negatively correlated with rain intensity. High rain intensity tended to undermine penetration of rain water in soil and thus reduced soil moisture. At the same rain intensity, flat cultivation produced maximal surface runoff and soil erosion. Contour cultivation, however, seemed ideal in controlling soil erosion and surface runoff at small to medium rain intensity, but this effect was weakened at heavy rain intensity. Furthermore, it tended to elevate underground runoff and was responsible for the loss of N. It was observed that P was predominantly lost to sediment and highly correlated with rain intensity. At small to medium rain intensity, N was carried away from the plot by runoff, especially by underground runoff. Thus, it is very crucial to monitor underground runoff in order to control N loss. As for P, any methods to effectively stop soil erosion are the solutions. Under the conditions of this experiment, about 1% of fertilizer N (available N) leachedout of the soil and became a pollutant; P loss to the environment was very minor, only accounting for less than 0.3‰ to 1‰ of fertilizer P applied. 【Conclusion】 On the sloping purple farmland, P was lost in sediment and the quantity was influenced by rain intensity, implying that to control P loss, soil erosion must be minimized first. Contour cultivation was proven to be highly effective in control of both soil erosion and P losses. Majority of soil N was lost through runoff, especially through underground runoff under slight rain. Minimizing runoff is the best way to control N loss. The conventional contour cultivation tended to increase both underground runoff and N loss. In order to control N and P losses in the purple soil area, the integrated agronomic methods such as cultivation practices against soil erosion and water loss, soil depth improvement and organic matter enrichment can be employed." @default.
