- W2363886256 abstract "In this paper, the magnetic field structure of the big active region of August 1972 isdiscussed using the approximation of the four polar force-free magnetic field. The analyticformulae of three dimensional components of magnetic field, the magnetic energy and the ex-tractable energy for a four-polar constant a symmetric field shown in Fig. 1 are derived. Thedaily values of the extractable energy are evaluated and compared with the daily regionalflare indices. The results suggest that (i) The energy of solar flares in this region comesfrom the extractable energy storage produced by twisting of magnetic fields; (ii) The magnet-ic field of this region could be represented approximately by a four-polar magnetic field;(iii) The derived analytie solusions (20)--(22), (29)--(33) and the configuration of trans-verse fields (Fig. 5) can be applied to the sunspot groups appearing as resemble distributionof polarities; (iv) It seems that a lower limit of extractable energy △E～8×10~(31) ergexits for occurrence of the flares of importance≥2. This criterion may provide a referencefor the flare forecasting." @default.
