- W2364147264 abstract "Adaptability of seed germination and seedling growth to saline or alkaline habitat is of significance in specie regeneration, especially the adaptability of seed germination to habitat affects directly the natural distribution and status of species. In topsoil, some environmental factors, such as soil moisture content, temperature, illumination and salinity, affect jointly seed germination. In this paper, the optimal conditions for germination of Suaeda physophora seeds are measured under 3 kinds of illumination, 5 temperature gradients and 5 salinity gradients. The Suaeda physophora seeds were collected from Fukang, Xinjiang. The results show that there is no significant difference of germinability of Suaeda physophora seeds between the situations in light and in darkness. The optimal temperature for germination of Suaeda physophora seeds is 30℃. Germination rate of Suaeda physophora seeds is decreased with the increase of salinity. The joint effect of different temperatures and salinities on the germination rate of Suaeda physophora seeds is significant. Under the optimal temperature, the critical and limit values of salinity tolerance for the germination of Suaeda physophora seeds are 488.89 mmol/L and 933.34 mmol/L respectively. Salinity is a dominant ecological factor affecting the germination of Suaeda physophora seeds, and temperature is a limit ecological factor. Germinability of Suaeda physophora seeds is the highest in late-spring when temperature is relatively high and salt accumulation is weak. The results reveal that Suaeda physophora Pall. is one of the species with the highest salt tolerant in Xinjiang, China." @default.
