- W2364204925 abstract "The discarded active sludge from an urban wastewater treatment plant was used to prepare dried sludge and chemically modified sludge(using H2SO4 and ZnCl2 as the chemical activation reagents) as the adsorbents.The resulting two types of sludge were used to adsorb Hg(Ⅱ) ions in industrial wastewater for the purpose of wastewater treatment.Thus the effects of the wastewater pH value,dosage of the adsorbents,and the original concentration of Hg(Ⅱ) in wastewater on the removal rate of Hg(Ⅱ) ions were investigated.It was found that the Hg(Ⅱ) ions in the industrial wastewater could be effectively eliminated using the chemically modified activated sludge.The adsorption of the Hg(II) ions in wastewater by the dried activated sludge and chemically modified activated sludge well conformed to Langmuir's first order dynamic equation.At the same time,the chemically modified activated sludge had much better adsorption capacity than the dried activated sludge,indicating that the adsorption capacity of the activated sludge could be greatly increased by chemical modification.Moreover,the Hg(II) ions adsorbed by the chemically modified activated sludge could be recovered at a rate of about 70%,using ultrasonic desorption in HNO3 solution of a concentration 0.1 mol/L,indicating that the titled chemically modified activated sludge could be readily used for the treatment of the industrial wastewater containing Hg(Ⅱ) ions." @default.
