- W2364452407 abstract "Ten 10-day-old artificially-reared coccidian-free goslings were inoculated orally with(2.0×10~(5))-6.5×10~(5) of sporulated oocysts of Eimeria stigmosa, respectively, and killed at intervals from 48th h to 180th h post-inoculation.The life cycle and pathogenicity of E.stigmosa were observed chronologically. There might be only one merogony stage in the life cycle of E.stigmosa.Each meront contained(3-5) merozoites.E.stigmosa completed merogony and began gamogony at about 108th h post-infection,and all endogenous stages developed intranuclearly in epithelial cells. The prepatent period was 4.5d and discharge of oocysts continued for 2.5d.Sporulation of oocysts occurred for 36-48h at 25℃.E.stigmosa parasitized mainly in the epithelial cells of jejunum, ileum, ceca, and rectum from middles to tops of villi, and resulted in mild histopathological changes. The infected goslings brought about mild diarrhoea, but did not die.The results showed that E.stigmosa was mild pathogenic for goslings." @default.
