- W2364563121 abstract "The present paper is Part Ⅲ of our report on new records of Chinese birds from the Hsi-Shuan-Pan-Na Area (西双版纳)and vicinity in southern Yunnan. In this part there are presented 8 species and 1 subspecies, which are considered as new to the Chinese avifauna. They belong to 6 families and 8 genera.Pittidae1. Pitta brachyura moluccensis (P.L.S. Miiller)Total length 214, wing 125, tail 45, culmen 26, tarsus 36 ram.A single male collected on May 5, 1956 from Cha-Lan Bar (21.84°N., 101.06°E.; 650 meters), Yunnan.Distinguished from P. b. nympha Temminck et Schlegel by the following characteristics: (1) No rufous supercilium; (2) lesser wing-coverts and rump dark purplish-blue instead of bright blue; (3) larger white spot on the wings;(4) breast and flanks bright rufous instead of light fulvous-greenish.2. Pitta oatesi castaneiceps Delacour et Jabouille1 (?): Total length 246, wing 117, tail 68, culmen 25.4, tarsus 53 mm.1 ♀: Total length 245, wing 115, tail 63.5, culmen 26.4, tarsus 58.4 mm.A single female collected from Niu-Chang Chai (1400 meters) on Dah-wei-shan, Ping-Pien (22.98°N., 103.69°E.), S. E. Yunnan, on June 25, 1956, and subsequently a single male secured from Meng-Hai (21.95°N., 100.45°E.; 1250 meters),Yunnan on Feb. 26, 1957.3. Anthocincla phayrei phayrei BlythTotal length 230, wing 105, tail 55, culmen 26, tarsus 30 mm.A single female secured on March 30, 1956 from Ching-San (750 meters), about 20 kin. N. W. of Meng-Yang (22.07°N., 100.90°E.), Yunnan.Distinguished from all other pittas by having conspicuous aigrettes at the sides of the nape. Nape not dark blackish, as in A. p. obscura Delacour.Irenidae4. Aegithina lafresnayei innotata (Blyth)3 (?): Total length 149-160, wing 74-75, tail 59.5-66, eulmen 23-26, tarsus 19.5-20.5 mm.2 (?): Total length 160-164, wing 72-75, tail (1 ♀) 66, culmen 23, tarsus 19.5-21.5 mm.A female shot on March 7, 1957 from Cha-Lan-Bar, Yunnan; 2 males, and subsequently a female and a male were obtained from Meng-Yang on March 29-April 2, 1957.The male of this subspecies differs from that of A. l. xanthotis (Sharpe) by having the upper plumage deep greenish instead of yellowish-green and having the ear-coverts bright yellow and not pale yellowish.Sturnidae5. Sturnus contra floweri (Bowdler Sharpe)Total length 234, wing 120, tail 70, culmen 28, tarsus 35 mm.A single female obtained on May 3, 1956 from Cha-Lan-Bar, Yunnan.Similar to superciliaris Blyth from Burma in having the forehead and crown narrowly streaked with white, but differs from the latter in having the back very much darker.Sylviidae6. Orthotomus atrogularis nitidus HumeTotal length 98-105, wing 43-45, tail about 40, culmen 14-14.5, tarsus 18-20 mm.Three birds secured from Cha-Lan-Bar, Yunnan on March 19 and 22, 1957. The reproductive organs of these specimens were too damaged for an identification of the sexes.We have no specimens of the nominate form to make comparisons with, but our specimens are referred to nitidus Hume on geographical grounds.Sittidae7. Sitta castanea cinnamoventris Blyth2 (?): Total length 145-146, wing 84.5-89, tail 45.3-48, culmen (1 (?)) 21.2, tarsus 20-20.1 mm.1 ♀: Total 147, wing 83, tail 44, culmen 20.4, tarsus 20 mm.A male collected from Ma-Li-Ping (22.67°N., 101.04°E.; 1100 meters), about 20 km. from Sze-Mao, Yunnan on Feb. 21, 1957; subsequently from the same locality a male and a female collected on May 8, 1957.Distinguished from S. c. neglecta Walden by having the throat and breast of the same tint as the rest of lower plumage. Some consider that chestnut-bellied nuthatches are extremely saturate forms of S. europaea.Nectariniidae8. Nectarinia hypogrammica lisettae (Delacour et Jabouille)1 (?): Total length 150, wing 67, tail 49, culmen 20, tarsus 15 mm.1 ♀: Total length 142, wing 62.5, tail 51, culmen 21, tarsus 16 mm.Two birds collected from Ching-San (750 meters), about 20 kin. N. W. of Meng-Yang (22.07°N., 100.90°E.) On March 19 1956 and April 9, 1957 respectively.Differs from N. h. nuchalis Blyth in having the under tail-coverts more yellowish and the ground color" @default.
