- W2364695512 abstract "Objective To appraise the effects of positive glucose screening result on the outcome of pregnant mother and the neonate. Method 5 033 pregnant women were screened by glucose challenge test (GCT), during 24～34 weeks' gestational age, A plasma glucose level of 7.8 mmol/L was considered as positive.The positive subjects received a further glucose tolerance test (OGTT). 1 062 women (21.10%) with positive OGTT were divided into 3 groups: normal OGTT group, gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) group and gestational impaired glucose tolerance (IGT) group. The results of the pregnant mothers and the neonates of the three groups were compared. Results The incidences of GDM and IGT were 4.07% and 4.03%, respectively. In the GDM group, the age and body weight before delivery, the incidences of polyhydramnios and macrosomia were significantly higher than those in the normal group, but there was no significant difference when compared with those in IGT group. Among the three groups, there were significant differences in the body weight of pregnant women before pregnancy, pregnancy-induced hypertension, the incidence of cesarean operation, hyperbilirubinemia and hypoglycemia. Conclusion Abnormal carbohydrate metabolism in pregnant women can increase the morbidity of the pregnant women and perinatal neonate, hence, attention should be paid in the above screening test, diagnosis and early treatment in the pregnant women." @default.
