- W2364843979 abstract "Objective To investigate the condition of patients in their knowledge,attitude and behavior to pain in order to relieve their pain.Methods A questionnaire which covers the knowledge,attitude and behavior related to pain was distributed to 187 patients.Results Over 60% patients lacked knowledge about pain and held a negative attitude and behavior toward pain;38.5% patients accepted the idea that post-operative pain is unavoidable and should be tolerated if possible;51.9% patients did not ask for analgesia on their own initiative;nearly one third patients did so only when they gained at least 8 points or more in severity(0～10 points);20.3% patients had got some pain education from nurses before;29.4% patients were not treated when they complained of pain;and only 9.1% patients had their being pain evaluated.Conclusion The lack of pain knowledge would greatly affect pain treatment and it's nursing care.Education and nursing care of pain should therefore be emphasized to post-operetive patients so as to improve their lives." @default.
