- W2364952289 abstract "Long-term conventional cultivation of vegetables in greenhouse causes problems which seriously threaten sustainability of vegetable production by using facilities.Based on the survey data from 324 vegetable farmers in Liaoning Province,this paper discusses farmers' recognition of adverse effects from conventional cultivation and the sustainable production behavior.Factors that affect farmers' adoption behavior of sustainable production are identified by using Heckman probit selection model.The results show that most farmers have the recognition of adverse effects caused by long-term planting in greenhouse and sustainable production practices,but they focus on short-term effects in the adoption of specific measures and the adoption level of sustainable production is still low.The education level of householder,the acreage of planting in the greenhouse,communicating with the villagers,the channels of obtaining technology information,joining the cooperatives,the guidance of agricultural officers and participating in training play a significant role in promoting the farmers'recognition of adverse effects caused by long-term planting in greenhouse.Among factors influencing farmers' adopting sustainable production practice,the education level of householder,the total household income,the guidance of agricultural officers and participating in training have a significant positive impact,but householder's age and the distance from the market present a negative role.Therefore,government should give more publicity,training and technical instructions to farmers,give full play to the cooperatives' role,improve farmers' income to promote the sustainable production of facilities vegetables." @default.
