- W2365145497 abstract "Objective To compare the short term result of hip resurfacing arthroplasty and large diameter head total hip arthroplasty and discuss the advantages of both methods. Methods From January 2006 to December 2007, 85 hip resurfacings (Converse plus, Wright) for 79 patients and 145 large head total hip arthroplasties (Conserve, Wright Medical) for 128 patients were followed. The average age of patients is 54.7 (range 39~69), male 119 cases, female 111 cases. The preoperative diagnoses include femoral head necrosis, developing dysplasia of hip (DDH), ankylosing spodylitis (AS) and osteoarthritis. The operating time, bleeding during operations, length of incision, ratio of transfusion, incidence of deep vein thrombosis, dislocation and infection of two groups are compared accordingly. Results There is no difference on bleeding during operations, ratio of transfusion, incidence of deep vein thrombosis, dislocation and infection, and postoperative range of motion of hips between two groups. There is significant difference on operating time and length of incision between two groups. Harris hip score improve in both group and no significant difference between two groups. Conclusion Both hip resurfacing arthroplasy and large diameter head total hip arthroplasy can get good clinical result for young adult patients. The advantages of tow techniques are different. Long term results need to be followed." @default.
