- W2365798905 abstract "Objective: To observe the changes of myocardial sarcoplasmic reticulum Ca2+ATPase (SERCA) activities in different thyroid functional conditions, and investigate the regulative effects of triiodothyronine (T3) on SERCA activity and myocardial function. Methods The rats were devided into group A (normal thyroid function) and group B (hypothyroidism), and each group was subdivided into control group, ischemic group, control reperfusion group and T3 reperfusion group (n=8 in each of the subgroup). An isolated rat heart working model was established and SERCA activities determined. Results SERCA activity was reduced by 43.2% in rats with thyroidectomy (P0.01). After 30 min of ischemic arrest the activities declined significantly and were baber lowered as the reperfusion proceeded. However, the activity in T3 reperfusion group was markedly enhanced, eg. in group A, it was (ll.20±l.07) as (7.33 ±0.56) μmol .mg-1 .h-1 (P0.0l), and (6.89±0.52) μs (5.23±0.71 ) μmol .mg-1 .h-1(P0.05) in group B. Conclusions Myocardial ischemic reperfusion and hypothyroidism could significantly depress SERCA activities, inhibit the calcium uptake into the sarcoplasmic reticulum, and induce Ca2+ overload in the cytoplasm. However, triiodothyronine may partially reverse the damage, and significantly improve SERCA activities, which may be beneficial to regulation of myocardial function." @default.
