- W2365911578 abstract "Membrane extraction is a process that has many advantages contrast to the traditional solvent extraction. However, the mass transfer coefficients in the membrane extraction are still less. In the present work the mass transfer performance of a membrane module with a single helically wound hollow-fibre was studied with 30%TBP(in kerosene)-phenol-water as a working system. The mass transfer direction was from the organic phase to the aqueous phase. The overall mass transfer coefficients were calculated and compared with the results of performance of the membrane extraction was test with phenol as solute. It was found that the helically wound hollow-fibre membrane provided a much better mass transfer performance. Its overall mass transfer coefficient under the same experimental conditions was over 1～2 times higher than that of the straight one. With an increase of the organic phase velocity in the tube side, the mass transfer coefficient increased much quickly, and the effect of the aqueous phase velocity in the shell side was little." @default.
