- W2366441880 abstract "[Objective] To analyze the advantages and disadvantages of the modified Swenson and Soave operation with laparoscopic-assisted pull-through for Hirschsprung disease (HD). [Method] 38 children, including 30 boys and 8 girls, underwent one-stage laparoscopic-assisted pull-through. There are 26 cases operated by modified Swenson; 12 cases were operated by Soave. Barium enema, anal-rectal manometry and rectal mucosal biopsy were examined before operation. Laparoscopic mobilization of the rectum within the pelvis should reach dentate line in Swenson method, but it is not necessary for Saove method to that low level. The rectum was pulled out through anal canal, and the colon was sutured with anal mucosa with oblique heart-shaped anastmosis in Swenson method. The anastomosis between colon and anal mucosa was made 0.5 cm above dentate line after the rectal mucosectomy and colon pull-through in Soave method. [Result] There was no difference between groups with respect to operating time, intraoperative blood loss, postoperative stooling time (P 0.05). Postoperative complications were 27% and 33% respectively (P 0.05). There was no large bleeding or death in two groups. [Conclusion] Two methods assisted by laparoscopy can mini-invasively treat HD and have the same results. The operation method could be selected according to doctor′s preference and preoperative frequency of enterocolitis. Swenson method was suitable for elder child and Soave was more suitable for infants and young child." @default.
