- W2367715892 abstract "Objective To investigate the effect of hypoxia and pulmonary artery hypertension(PAH) on apoptosis and apoptotic gene expression of left ventricle myocyte in newborn infants with hypoxic diseases.Methods Eleven newborn infants with chronic hypoxic diseases were divided into two groups according to the pulmonary artery pressure detected by doppler echocardiography prior to the death,one was hypoxia group,the other hypoxia-PAH group(systolic pressure was higher than 4?kPa).Two children died of traffic accident as normal control group.Left ventricles were collected after their death for pathological studies,Tunnel test for apoptotic index,hybridization in situ and SP immunohistochemical method for mRNA and protein expressions of Fas,Fasl,bax,bcl-2,caspase-3.Results(1) The apoptotic indexes in hypoxia group and hypoxia-PAH group were significantly higher than that in normal control group(P0.01),but there were no significant difference between the hypoxia group and hypoxia-PAH group.(2) mRNA and protein expression levels of Fas,FasL,bax,caspase-3 in hypoxia group and hypoxia-PAH group were significantly higher than that in control group(P0.01).mRNA and protein expression levels of bcl-2 in both hypoxia and hypoxia-PAH groups were slightly higher than that in control group,but no significance.There was no significant difference between hypoxia and hypoxia-PAH groups.(3) Pulmonary artery pressure in hypoxia-PAH group showed a positive correlation to the apoptotic index(r=0.478,P0.05).Conclusion Hypoxia induced by various diseases in newborn infants may cause apoptosis and altered expression of apoptosis-related genes in left ventricle.PAH might increase the apoptosis." @default.
