- W2368885564 abstract "Water resources, which sustain the environment and social economy in the Heihe River catchments, mainly originate from the Qilian Mountains. So,an understanding of detailed information of hydrological cycle and the formation of water resources in the recharge area is vital to the protection of water resources and to the sustainable development of the downstream regions. On the basis of field sampling, the present work employs environmental isotopes(δD,δ~(18)O and~3H) and chemical components of different water bodies to trace the hydrological cycle process in the mountain area. And the components of surface water and groundwater are evaluated by using an isotopic mixing model. At last, the present work gives the hydrological cycling patterns in the mountain area. The results show that: 1) There exist two kinds of groundwater flow systems in the mountain area: the local groundwater flow system and the regional groundwater flow system. The local groundwater system gets recharge from the precipitation and melt water at local site, and discharges to the near stream with a rapid renewal rate.According to the result of two-component mixing model, about 76% of the local groundwater is recharged from precipitation and 24% from melt water. On the contrary, the regional groundwater system gets recharge from the precipitation and melt water at the high elevation (3 600 m) area, and discharges to surface as springs at the interface of the mountain area and basin, where the fracture belt exists. The renewal rate of regional groundwater system is very low.2) In the mountain area, the surface water is composed of precipitation, melt water and groundwater. The fractions of various waters in surface water are calculated by using three-component approach. The results show that the proportion of precipitation, melt water and deep groundwater in the surface water is about 69%~72%,23%~24% and 5%~7%,respectively." @default.
