- W2369838862 abstract "SUMMARY Objective: To study the effect of hyperthermic seizures on rat's learning behavior and to explore the interventional efficacy of phenobarbital. Methods: The rats were randomly divided into hyperthermia treated, phenobarbital treated, and control groups. The hyperthermia treated group was subdivided into hyperthermia and hyperthermic seizure groups, according to whether the rats developed seizures during hyperthermia treatment. Phenobarbital treated group was subdivided into phenobarbital and phenobarbital hyperthermia groups. By a water maze test, latencies to escape onto the platform and errors were recorded. Results: Latencies to escape onto the platform were significantly delayed in rats in hyperthermic seizure group than those in hyperthermia, phenobarbital hyperthermia, phenobarbital, and control groups. No significant differences were observed among the groups of hyperthermia, phenobarbital hyperthermia and phenobarbital. Many errors to escape onto the platform were recorded in rats in hyperthermic seizure group than those in hyperthermia, phenobarbital hyperthermia, phenobarbital, and control groups. The rats in hyperthermia group had more errors than those in phenobarbital hyperthermia and phenobarbital groups. No significant differences of errors were demonstrated in phenobarbital hyperthermia from that in phenobarbital groups. Conclusion: Hy perthermic seizure, hyperthermia only and phenobarbital all can disturb the learn ability in rats. Phenobarbital can effectively prevent hyperthermic seizures and alleviate the impact of hyperthermia on learning." @default.
