- W2369900246 abstract "Objective:To investigate the expression of PTEN protein and VEGF in human prostatic carcinoma and their clinical significance. Methods: using immunohistochemical S-P method, the expression of PTEN protein and VEGF wasevaluated in the tissues of 39 human prostatic carcinomas as well as 20 benign prostatic hyperplasia(BPH,as control group). Results: The positive rates of PTEN protein in prostatic carcinoma and BPH were 38.46%(15/39) and 100.0%(20/20) respectively. The difference between thetwogroups was significant(P0.01).The positive rates of VEGF in prostatic carcinoma and BPH were 56.41%(22/39) and 25%(5/20) respectively, there was also significant difference between the twogroups(P0.05).PTENprotein expression in prostatic carcinoma was negativelycorrelated with tumor stage and histological grade(P0.05), showing no correlation with age; while VEGF expressionwas positively correlated withthe above clinical and pathological features(P0.05). There was a negative correlation between PTEN protein and VEGF expression(r=-0.735,P0.01). Conclusions: Low PTEN protein expression andhigh VEGF protein expression play important roles inthe development of primary prostatic carcinoma. PTEN protein and VEGF can be consideredas important indexes to judge the biological behaviorsof prostatic carcinoma;combined detection of PTEN proteinand VEGF will be helpful to evaluate theconditionand prognosisof patients with prostatic carcinoma." @default.
