- W2369930006 abstract "Objective To treat primary pterygia with single dose of MMC injection locally and analyze the expression of VEGF and TGF-β_1 in the specimens of pterygia with treatment of MMC and untreated pterygia respectively by immunohistochemistry method, to observe the effect of the MMC trearment on the expression of VEGF and TGF-β_1.Methods 20 suffered eyes of 19 patients with primary pterygia were randomly divided into 2 groups:group A and group B.In group A,pterygia were directly cut and specimens of pterygia were kept for immunohistochemistry study.In group B,single dose MMC,which was 0.1～0.2ml of 0.4mg/ml concentration,was injected locally into pterygia through their necks.Pterygium resections were done 3 to 10 weeks after injection and specimens were kept for immunohistochemistry study as well.Then,the expression of VECF and TCF-β_1 in pterygium tissue samples of two groups were analyze and study respectively.Results The levels of VEGF and TGF-β_1 were higher in group A than those in group B with significant difference(P0.05).Conclusions The treatment of MMC locally injection can inhibit the expression of VEGF and TGF-β_1 in quiescent pterygia.There were no serious eye complications of MMC in low concentration and low dose." @default.
