• W2369971129 abstract "  Objective: To investigate the relation between estradiol receptors (ER), progesterone receptors (PR) and serum estradiol (E2), progesterone(P) levels in infertile women.Methods: According to endometrial biopsies, thirty infertile women were divided into luteal insufficiency (LIS) gruop including 14 patients, and control group of 16 patients. The serum E2 and P levels in middle luteal phase were determined by radioimmunoassay and ER as well as PR contents in the secretory endometrium were studied by immunohistochemistry using monoclonal antibodies against ER and PR.Results: E2 level in the LIS group was significantly lower than that in control group (P0.05). P levels showed no significance between two groups (P0.05). The specific staining for ER and PR was observed only in the nuclei of epithelial and stromal cells. Specific cytoplasmic staining. was not observed in all paraffin sections. PR content in endometrial stromal cell in the late luteal phase in LIS group was significantly lower than that in the control (P0.05). Conclusions: The indicated that inadequate maturation of the endometrium during the luteal phase of infertile patients in the LIS group seemed to correlate with insufficient development of progesterone receptors rather than with decreased serum progesterone level. The insufficiency of ovarian estrogen can result in deficiency of PR content in secretory endometrium." @default.
