- W2370135009 abstract "Objective It has been reported that peripheral cholinergic nerve may be involved in the fever induced by bacterial endo- toxin or endogenous pyrogen. The aim of present experiment was to investigate whether peripheral choliuergic nerve has also similar effect on stress-induced hyperthermia. Methods Effects of subcutaneous injection of methyl seopolamine and pyridostigmine on stress-induced hyperthermia and motor activity were observed in rats by radio telemetry in an open-field chamber.Plasma cholinesterase(ChE)activity was measured by a spectrophotometry. Results Methyl scopolamine,a peripheral muscarinic antago- nist, leaded to a significant attenuation in the hyperthermic response to open-field exposure compared with rats dosed with saline. The rat with pyTidostigmine that caused a 52% decrease in plasma ChE activity led to a significant enhancement of the hyperthermic response to open-field exposure.Pyridostignine coadministered with methyl scopolamine nearly abolished the effects of methyl scopolamine on core temperature during open-field stress. But the rats treated with pyridostigmine and methyl scopolamine were not effected significantly on motor activity to open-field exposure compared with rats dosed with saline. Conclusions Experimental data showed that methyl scopolamine and pyridostigmine could interfere with the thermoregulatory response to open field exposure, and indicated that peripheral cholinergic nerve involved in the control of stress hyperthennic response in the rat." @default.
