- W2370325200 abstract "Objective To explore the mechanism of Huoxue Tongdu decoction(HTD) in treating spinal cord ischemia-reperfusion injury(SCII). Methods New Zealand rabbits were randomly divided into sham operation group(n=8), normal saline group(n=32) and HTD group(n=32). The sham operation group was fed normally. The normal saline group and HTD group were treated with continuous intragastric administration for 7 days, then received operation. Lumbar artery occlusion was performed along the third to sixth lumbar artery root in normal saline group and HTD group to induce SCII model. Lumbar artery occlusion was not performed in sham operation group. The tissues of animals were took out at 0.5 h, 1 h, 4 h and 8 h after reperfusion. The pathological change of spinal cord was observed, and the expression of ICAM-1 were determined by immunohistochemical method and ELISA method. Results There was no positive ICAM-1 vascular expression in the sham operated group at each time point. The positive ICAM-1 vascular expression began to appear in normal saline group and HTD group at 4 h after reperfusion, and the expression in normal saline group was higher than that of HTD group at 4 h and 8 h(P0.05). Compared with sham operation group, the expression of ICAM-1 in other two groups was increased significantly at each time point(P0.01), and the expression in normal saline group was higher than that of HTD group at 0.5 h, 1 h, 4 h and 8 h(P0.01,P0.05). Conclusion HTD can inhibit the expression of ICAM-1 in spinal cord after reperfusion, reduce the activation of leukocytes, alleviate early inflammatory response, and improve ischemia-reperfusion injury,which may partly explain the mechanism of treating SCII." @default.
