- W2371058984 abstract "Objective To sum up the results of laparoscopic splenectomy in children. MethodsTwo patients with hereditary spherocytosis and one case with thrombocytopenic purpura underwent laparo-scopic splenectomy between Aug. 2002 and Feb. 2003. The indication, preoperative preparation, proce-dures and postoperative management were discussed. Results The duration of operation was 2.1 hours onaverage. The estimated blood loss was from 5 to 60 ml. The counts of platlets, white blood cells and redblood cells were returned to the normal range in all cases within 11 days after operation. The follow-up re-sults from 2 ～ 6 months showed that all cases recovered uneventfully. Conclusions As compared with tradi-tional procedure, laparoscopic splenectomy in children has advantages of minimal invasion, less blood lossand faster recovery." @default.
