- W2371127954 abstract "Objective To determine whether the serum gastrin, the plasma motilin and somatostatin levels could have a changs and evaluated their clinical significance in diabetic diarrhea patients. Methods Totally 78 patients with diabetic diarrhea(44 males and 34 females aged 20～68 years ) were enrolled in this study. Fasting blood glucose levels were 7.3～22.6 mmol·L 1 . 22 age and sex matched healthy subjects served as controls . The serum gastrin, the plasma motilin and somatostatin levels were measured by using radioimmunoassay with a fully automated microcomputer-controlled gamma counter.Results Serum gastrin levels and Plasma motilin levels were higher in patients with diabetic diarrhea than those in the control group ( P 0.05 for both). The plasma somatostatin levels were lower in diabetic diarrhea group than thoee in the control group( P 0.05).There was a negative correlation between gastrin,motilin and somatostatin( P 0.05 for both).there was a positive correlation between the levels of gastrin,motilin and blood glucose in diabetic dairrhea group( P 0.05 for both).There was a negative correlation between somatostatin and blood glucose( P 0.05).Conclusions The serum gastrin and the plasma motilin were higher and plasma somatostatin were lower in diabetic diarrhea patients than in controls. Such abnormality might affect the function of evacuation of stomach and gastrointestinal neurosis. When blood glucose heightened,secrection of plasma somatostatin reduced and it weakened the inhibitthe effect upon gastrin and motilin.secretion of gastrin and motilin.the secretion of gastrin and motilin was increased. As a result,the diabeticd diarrhea had occurred." @default.
