- W2371472211 abstract "Objective To investigate the relationship of A/G polymorphism of nicotinamide N-methyltransferase(NNMT)gene to plasma total homocysteine concentration(tHcy),and its interactions with folic acid level and Methylenetetrahydrofolate Reductase(MTHFR)gene C677T polymorphism.Methods A cross-sectional study was conducted among 221 unrelated Japanese male workers(40～64 years).NNMT A/G and MTHFR C677T polymorphisms were determined by Light Typer Solubility Curve and PCR-RFLP method.Results As a whole,there was no association between NNMT genotypes and tHcy concentration(P=0.254).In the subjects whose plasma folic acid level was under 10.9 nmol/L,tHcy was significantly higher in subjects with NNMT/GG genotype than with A allele(P=0.029),but there was no difference between 2 upper groups.A significant interaction was detected between plasma folic acid level and NNMT A/G polymorphism(P=0.008),and between NNMT A/G and MTHFR C677T polymorphism(P=0.034).The tHcy concentration was significantly higher in subjects with GG+TT genotypes and with all other genotypes(P0.001).Conclusion NNMT A/G polymorphism is not an independent determinant factor,but its interaction with folic acid level and MTHFR/C677T polymorphism may have an effect on serum tHcy level." @default.
