- W23715629 abstract "Electroencephalogram (EEG) neurofeedback training (NFT) is a state-of-the-art technology based on operant conditioning. Research has shown it to be efficacious in various clinical conditions as a primary treatment or as an adjunct treatment. It is well known that human activity is dependent on the flow of information through elaborate neuronal networks in the brain. Different activities and functions are associated with different brainwaves. A healthy brain shifts through different brainwave states depending on the task the individual has to address, whereas in a deregulated brain there may be underarousal, unresponsiveness, or overarousal, resulting in difficulty responding adequately to environmental demands. In this chapter, three of the most debilitating problems that have been addressed through NFT will be discussed: alcohol dependence syndrome, traumatic brain injury, and stroke, all of which are extremely detrimental to self and society." @default.
