- W2371605802 abstract "Objective To find out whether the amount of seafood intake play a role in quality of semen in infertile males and to provide more valuable information for treatment of male infertility. Methods A total of 228 infertile males were investigated by using a self-designed questionnaire and their semen samples were harvested for laboratory analysis. Results Ninety-four cases were found to have normal semen, while 134 abmormal one.Laboratory results showed that the sperm density was(25.39±16.21)×106/ml,the proportions of normally-shaped sperms and abnormally-shaped ones were(57.40±17.45)%,(40.73±7.23)% respectively;the percentages of sperm motility graded a,b,c,and d respectively were(35.16±15.85)%,(9.38±4.15)%,(13.07±6.89)%,(32.57±13.78)%.Among participants who reported abundant seafood intake, the percentage of Grade b sperms was(10.46±2.86)%,with the percentages Grade d sperms being(40.41±6.94)%.Compared with those who reported moderate or scant intake of seafood, significant differences were found between the percentages(P0.05 for all).Different ways of cooking showed no significant impact on quality of semen(P0.05 for all). Conclusion Infertile males were prone to have poor-quality semen.Excessive intake of seafood affected the quality of semen.Dietary guidance should be targeted to infertile males so as to control their seafood intake and promote balanced nutrition level." @default.
