- W2373023879 abstract "A kind of exfoliated gluconic acid montmorillonite (E-GAM) which has a good affinity with water-soluble polymers was prepared via modification of alkaline Ca-bentonite with gluconic acid. Effects of modifier (gluconolactone) dosage, reaction temperature and dispersant concentration on the exfoliation degree of gluconic acid montmorillonite (GAM) were studied through single-factor experiments. SEM analysis shows that the exfoliated montmorillonite has the layered structure with the nano-piece thickness of 75～100 nm. DSC analysis indicates that the dehydration temperature of GAM is similar to that of calcium gluconate, and the gluconic groups distribute on the surface of montmorillonite nano-piece. IR analysis indicates that the gluconic acid combines with montmorillonite by chemical bonds. XRD analysis shows that the nanometer sized GAM still has layered structure which is composed of multilayer montmorillonite crystal pieces. Through the discussion of the exfoliation mechanism, it was found that the exfoliation of GAM is caused possibly by the drastic neutralization reaction between the bentonite layers. The experiment shows that, through adding E-GAM into the cassava starch paste (CSP), the viscosity of CSP can be increased by 100%." @default.
