- W2373279646 abstract "Objective To determine the optimal duration of lung recruitment maneuvers in treating rabbits with acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS).Methods Lung recruitment maneuvers were applied to rabbits model with ARDS by pressure of 5 times of mean airway pressure for 5～40s.Hemodynamics,pulmonary mechanics and gas exchange were measured before,during and 2 min,5 min after recruitment.Lung histology was observed after experiment.Results When the duration of recruitment was longer than 10 s,partial pressure of arterial oxygen(PaO 2) and arterial oxygen saturation were highly improved.With the advance of duration,partial pressure of arterial carbon dioxide increased markedly.The differences of PaO 2 before and during recruitment (△PaO 2) were (80±31) mmHg and (66±8) mmHg respectively in the 20s and 30s group,which were significantly higher than that in 5s group (16±14)mmHg (all P 0.05).After recruitment,dynamic pulmonary compliance in 20s group (2.15±0.21)ml·(cmH 2O) -1 was increased markedly than that of the other groups.Lung volume of 20s group immediately increased and was also markedly higher than that in 5s group〔(45.0±4.2)ml·kg -1 in the 20s group,(25.6±6.7)ml·kg -1 in the 5s group,P0.05〕.Histologically,Smith lung injury score in every recruitment group was less than that in the group of ARDS model.Mean arterial pressure decreased and central venous pressure increased during recruitment.Conclusion 20s may be the optimal duration of lung recruitment maneuvers in rabbits with ARDS." @default.
