- W2374462645 abstract "We measured the sexual dimorphism in morphological traits and female individual fecundity in a population of Acrossocheilus wenchowensis, from Oujiang River, Lishui City, Zhejiang Province. Our results showed that there were no sexual dimorphism in the body length of juveniles and adults. The juvenile females with special body length are significantly larger than juvenile males in head length, snout length, eye diameter, pelvic fin precoxal length and body mass. The adult females with special body length are significantly shorter than adult males in head height and caudal peduncle height. However, adult females have a larger space between pelvic fin and anal fin than adult males. There's no significant sexual difference among other morphological traits of juveniles and adults. A principal component analysis resolve three components (with eigenvalues≥1) from eight size (body length)-free morphological variables, accounting for 65.6 % of variation in the original data. The first component (27.9 % variance explained) has high positive loading for size-free values of head length, snout length and pelvic fin precoxal length, the second component (23.2 % variance explained) has high positive loading for size-free value of caudal peduncle depth and body mass, the third component (14.5 % variance explained) has high negative loading for size-free value of space between pelvic fin and anal fin. Females had significantly larger scores on the first axis, but had lower scores on the third axis of a principal component analysis than did males. The interaction between the first and the second axis scores were significantly, but not in other major component scores. The individual fecundity is positively correlated with the body length and body mass in A. wenchowensis. When the influence of variation in body length was removed, the individual fecundity is positively correlated with the body mass in A. wenchowensis. However, there's no correlation between the individual fecundity and the body length when the influence of variation in body mass was removed. It is said that adult females increase the individual fecundity through increasing the individual size, especially through increasing the body mass, and thus increasing reproduction output." @default.
