- W2376091851 abstract "Objective To study the relation of carotid atherosclerosis to the age,sex and the related cardiovascular factors in the old peoples.Methods The indicators such as blood glucose,lipid,urine microalbumin,body mass index (BMI),waistline value and the results of carotid ultrasound test in 517 elder patients suffering from cardiovascular diseases and 161 control subjects were conducted.The relation of the degree of carotid atherosclerosis to the age,sex and ten dominant cardiovascular factors such as coronary heart disease,hypertension,diabetes mellitus,cerebral infarction,metabolic syndrome,high blood lipid,low HDL-c,urine microalbumin,BMI,waistline value were comparatively studied.Results (1) For the level of carotid intima-media thickness (IMT) ≥1.2 mm,the age in positive group was significantly lower than in the control one ( P0.001).(2) The 12 indicators were analyzed by logistic regression analysis in elder patients whose IMT are 1.0 ~ 1.1 mm and whose IMT≥1.2mm.and the result showed that carotid atherosclerosis has positive relationship with these indicators such as coronary heart disease,hypertension,cerebral infarction,BMI (25～27.9),urine microalbumin,and elder men patients (P0.05);but carotid atherosclerosis has weakly positive correlation with diabetes mellitus,obviously negative relationship with low HDL-c (P0.05),and no significant correlation with metabolic syndrome,high blood lipid and waistline value.(3) the diameter of common carotid artery in elder patients whose carotid IMT≥1.2mm,was significantly higher than that in control group (P0.05).In classification of grade and scope of carotid atherosclerosis plaques,the ratios of grade III and mixed plaques in positive group were significantly higher than those in control group (P0.05).Conclusion The carotid atherosclerosis in elder patients has significant correlation with hypertension,coronary heart disease,cerebral infarction and low HDL-c.And urine microalbumin is an important risk factor of cardiovascular diseases.The carotid atherosclerosis in old men should be paid more attention." @default.
