• W2376594612 abstract "Objective To explore the relationship between hyponatremia and a lifestyle of low salt diet in elderly patients aged of over 70 with chronic heart failure.Methods 93 cases of chronic heart failure were diveded into two groups:high aged group of 50 subjects aged of 70～93 and the control group of 43 subjects aged of 60～69.The incidence of hyponatremia was compared between the two groups.The patients in high aged group had a normal salt intake after leaving the hospital.During the following 3 years,21 patients in high aged group were rehospitalized.Their morbidity of hyponatremia was compared with that during their first hospitalization.Results There was a significant higher morbidity of hyponatremia in high aged group, of which 11 subjects underwent it with long term low salt diet or poor dietary, than that in the control group,of which only one of seven subjects underwent hyponatremia,P0.01.21 in high aged group were rehospitalized with other episodes of heart failure with a normal salt intake in the next three years,none of them experienced hyponatremia, and there was a statistical difference in comparison with the condition occurred in high aged group during the first hospitalization,P0.05.Conclution Dietary salt restriction might not be beneficial for patients aged of over 70 with chronic heart failure,because it was liable to increase hyponatremia risk that harmed the patients when their heart failure were treated." @default.
