- W2376672055 abstract "Objective To investigate the protective effect of L-carnitine in the injuryinduced by ornidazole on the spermatozoon and fertility of male rats.Methods 40 male SD rats(200～230 g) were randomly divided into S groups;group A:0.5%sodium carboxymethyl cellulose given by oral gavage;group B:ORN[400 mg/(kg·d)]given by oral gavage ;group C:ORN[800 mg /(kg·d)]given by oral gavage;group D:ORN[400 mg/(kg·d)]plus LC[100 mg/(kg·d)]given by oral gavage;group E:ORN[800 mg/(kg·d)]plus LC[100 mg/(kg·d)]given by oral gavage.All rats were fed for 20 d continuously.24 h after the last administration,half male rats of every group were put to death after anesthetized. The caudal epididymis were taken to test the sperm count,motility and viability;the others were copulated with female in one cage.Results Compared with group A,the sperm count,motility and viability in caudal epididymis decreased significandy in group B(P0.05),the mean embryo count significandy reduced(P0.05).there was no copulatory female rats conceived(P0.01).Compared with group B,the sperm count,motility and viability in caudal epididymis raised significantly in group D(P0.05),the mean embryo count significandy increased(P0.05),and there was no significant difference between group D and group A in every index.But,in group E and group C,the supplement of LC(100 mg/kg) didn't improve the decrease of the sperm count,motility and viability induced by ORN(800 mg/kg) in caudal epididymis in rats,and there was no copulatory female rats conceived,there was no significant difference between group E and group C (P0.05 ).Conclusion ORN can affect the quality of sperm in caudal epididymis and fertility in male rats,L-carnitine can play a good protective effect on the injury of sperm and fertility in male rats induced by ORN." @default.
