- W2377127761 abstract "AbstractIn this paper, we present a method to realize feature extraction on low contrast magnetic domain images of magneto-optical recording films. The method is based on the following three steps: first, Lee-filtering method is adopted to realizepre-filtering and noise reduction; this is followed by gradient feature segmentation, which separates the object area fromthe background area; finally the common linking method is adopted and the characteristic parameters of magneticdomain are calculated. We describe these steps with particular emphasis on the gradient feature segmentation. IntroductionA magnetic domain is the physical carrier ofinformation in magneto-optical (MO) recording.The size and shape of magnetic domain are veryimportant to MO recording performance. In someextent, it determines MO recording density andRead/Write speed. Many methods were intro-duced to observe the microstructure of magneticdomain. Sato [1] used polarizing microscopy toobserve recorded domains in TbFeCo alloys undervarious conditions. Martin [2] adopted magneticforce microscopy method to obtain high-resolu-tion imaging of static fields-domains written in athin film of ferrimagnetic TbFe. Greidanus [3]described a method for the observation ofthermomagnetically written domains in GdTbFeusing Lorentz electron microscopy. As the MOrecording density increases, the size of magneticdomain decreases. It becomes more difficult toextract magnetic domain information from therecorded images because of observation systemerror and other noises. Meanwhile, it is necessaryto quantify magnetic domain parameters, whichare difficult to obtain by traditional methods. Anefficient method must be introduced to solve theproblems." @default.
