- W2377134507 abstract "A spherical virus belonging to comoviridae is isolated from muskmelon plants with virus disease in Xinjiang. The virus is transmitted to 9 herbaceous species belonging to 3 different botanical families by sap mechanical inoculation,but causes severe, systemic infectious symptorn on cucurbits only. The virus can be transmitted by chrysomelid beetles (Diabrotica spp) with non-persistent manner, but can not be transmitted by aphid (Myzus persicae). The sap from infected tissue and purified virus preparation strongly reacts with antiserum against squash mosaic virus (SqMV) in SDS-agar gel double diffusion test and enzyme linked immunosorbent assay. The diameter of the virus particle is about 28～30nm. The Virus is purified by differential and rate-zonal centrifugation; the A_(260)/A_(280) ratio for purified virus is 1.60. Antiserum with a homologous titer of (10)~(11) determined by enzyme linked immunosorbent assay. The virus is transmitted through seed of infected muskmelon and pumpkin at seed-borne rate of 2.0% and 2.5% respectively. The name of squash mosaic virus-Xinjiang(SqMV-XJ) for this virus isolate is proposed." @default.
