- W2378623575 abstract "Objective: To investigate the value of the application of MEBO in association with recombinant human epidermal growth factor (RHEGF) in treating residual burn wounds and promoting wound healing. Method: During the period from Jan. 2002 to Feb. 2004, 30 cases with deep 2 nd to 3 rd degree residual burn wounds were subjected to double blind tests. The wounds of each case were divided into 2 treating regions. Wounds in region A, were treated with MEBO in association with RHEGF, one tube of MEBO and 40u/cm of RHEGF were applied on the wounds, MEBO was applied once every 4 hrs and RHEGF once every day. Wounds in region B, served as a control, were cleaned with 10% iodophor and then treated with amikacin, once a day. If the wounds in region A healed before the wounds in region B, the method for treating wounds in region B was stopped and replaced by the method for treating wounds in region A and vice versa. Result: All the 30 patients had the wounds in region A healed before those in region B. The healing time was 19.2±1.2 days. Small spot wounds were covered with epithelial in 3 days. None of the wounds in region B healed and there was excretion from the wounds and small purulent spots emerged and the residual wounds were enlarged. Conclusion: MEBO in association with RHEGF is the best method for treating residual burn wounds and is worthy to popularize." @default.
