- W2378666089 abstract "Objective To study the effect of high-altitude hypobaria environment on the contact lenses being worn, vision and cornea of wearers. Methods Eight male myopia volunteers(16 eyes),aged from 28 to 46 years, with refraction from-0.5 to-4.25 D,took part in the experiment. Before test, they should wear the contact lens for 1 week. There were 3 types of contact lenses: ocufilcon, with water content of 55%;polymacon(molded casting),with water content of 38%;polymacon(centrifugal spin manufacturing process),with water content of 38%.Each volunteer should wear the 3 types of contact lenses. The climbing rate of hypobaric chamber was 25 m/s.It stayed at 2500 m for 5 min,5300 m and 7000 m for 20 min.The descent rate was 10~40 m/s,every 1500 m stayed for 5 min. Before, during(every ascending and descending) and after every hypobaric test, visual acuity and slit lamp microscope examination were carried out. After hypobaric chamber test, injuries of cornea were checked with fluorescent staining. Results There was no significant change in visual acuity among different altitudes and contact lenses(P0.05).During the test, transparency of contact lens and cornea had no significant change.Bubbles,Halo,Color Halo phenomena or injuries were not found. All subjects had no apparent discomfort when using contact lens. Conclusion Soft contact lens is safe and can be acceptable in different high altitude environments." @default.
