- W2378923699 abstract "The dynamic characteristic of the Pearl River estuary are discussed, and the flow structure in the sea area around Macao is analysed.Macao lies on the west of the estuary,where abundant silt is available. As the sea area is at the confluence of the Hongwan waterway and the ebb tide,the velocity of the flow is reduced and the sedimentation enhanced.As a result,shallow beaches fast develop.According to the experience from the reclamation of the beaches along the Pearl River mouth,the author eonsiders that an elevation of -1 0～-1 5 m would be suitable for sea-filling and land-marking at the beaches of Macao.The beaches of Macao can be classified into two types and seven subtypes,their features,areas and distribution are described,and all types and subtypes of the beaches are evaluated for development.Combined with the management of the river mouths and water ways,and the control of water pollution,the rational exploitation of the beach resources is significant for the economic development of Macao. Six thematic development zones of the beaches are suggested." @default.
