- W2379084443 abstract "【Objective】 To investigate the expression and distribution of surfactant protein A(SP-A) and its important function during the development of epithelial cells in human fatal lungs. 【Method】 Human lung tissues were available from 37 fetuses of 10～34 weeks gestational age with parental consent at abortion and from two newborn infants who died without pulmonary causes.The expression of SP-A was examined by immunohistochemistry. 【Results】 SP-A was detected in the cytoplasm of columnar nonciliated epithelial cells of the human fetal lung as early as 10 weeks of gestation.The positive reaction of SP-A was enhanced during canalicular stages and it could be seen that in distal airway epithelium was more intense than that in proximal ones.From 25~(th) week to prenatal there was no significant difference in the expression of SP-A in the primitive alveolar.But the expression remarkably increased after birth. 【Conclusion】 The expression of SP-A reflected the maturation of epithelial cells in human fatal lung.The synthesis and secretion of SP-A may be in a behavior of preparation state and secreted rapidly after birth when necessary,and it may be very important for neonates." @default.
