- W2380035160 abstract "A Four-Pole Electric Swing (FPES) with a rotating chair in the goudola was developed in our laboratory. It has been used in studying vestibular functions and space motion sickness. This paper introduced the differential equation of swing of FPES, the calculation method of the linear acceleration of the gondola, the design of it's construction and control system and the operational principle of the swing and the rotating chair. The energy is added by electromagnetic work to keep the amplitude of swing constant. The feature of the equipment is free from vibration and noise. The pole length of FPES is 3.5--6.0m, ajustable in steps of 0.5m; the period of swing is 3.1--4. 7s; the amplitude of swing is 10°--45°; the maximum braking time of swing is 50s; the angular velocity of the chair is 20 °/s--180 °/s , adjustable continuously; the angular acceleration of the chair is 5° /s~2--25° /s~2 adjustable in steps of 5°/s~2. The physiological signals from subjects are transmitted to measuring and recording instruments through a 25 head-slip-ring system. The swing has been used in the laboratory for a long time, and sinusoidally complement eye motion, changes of H-wave of vestibulo-spinal reflex and typical symptoms of motion sickness on human and animal were elicited satisfactorily. The incidence of motion sickness in men, dogs and cats on the FPES of the 6 m length were 30% , 20% and 12.5% respectively. After bilateral canals plugged in cats, no significant changes in dynamic characteristics (power spectra and relative gain of vestibulo-ocular reflex) were found and similar response patterns of H-wave of vestibulo-spinal reflex appeared during experiment using FPES but significant changes were demonstrated after destruction of bilateral otolith organs. It is concluded that sinusoidally alternating linear acceleration was produced by this FPES satisfactorily." @default.
