- W2380277726 abstract "Objective To investigate which factors are related to infantile exotropia.Methods Patients treated in our hospital between January 1996 to January 2003 were reviewed for a diagnosed infantile exotropia.They have exotropia during 4～12 months after birth and without organic ocular pathology.All of them were inquired and recorded if they have abnormalities in pregnancy and delivery,trauma,or neurologic diseases.The exodeviation,version and stereo acuity before and after surgery were tested.Results Twenty-three patients met the inclusion criteria.Exotropia was intermittent in five and constant in eighteen.Average exodeviation was 49.7~△ and the exodeviation of 21(91.3%)patients were more than 25~△.Only five had stereo acuity and most of them were intermittent exotropia.Three had family history,eight had abnormalities in pregnancy and delivery or neurologic diseases,and six coexisted with other ocular abnormalities but not organic diseases.Fifteen required surgical correction,most of them had satisfactory ocular alignment(between -16 to +10~△),but only five had stereo acuity and three of them were intermittent before surgery.Conclusions Infantile exotropia may related to prematurity,neurologic defects and other ocular abnormalities but not organic diseases.The patients had bad stereo acuity and usually need earlier surgical correction in order to develop binocular function,especially to those intermittent exotrpia." @default.
