- W2380431173 abstract "【Objective】To evaluate the theraputic effect of the combined use of transurethral electrovaporization and transurethral resection of prostate for the treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia. 【Methods】From September 1997 to December 2006, combined use of transurethral electrovaporization and transurethral resection of prostate was performed to treat 110 cases of benign prostatic hyperplasia. The age of the patients ranged 56 years～86 years,mean 64 years. There was 23 cases Ⅰ° BPH, 71 cases Ⅱ° BPH, 16 cases Ⅲ° BPH. 32 cases were companied with retention of urine. Preoperation IPSS was (22.0±3.0), QOL was (5±2), residual urine was (264±24) mL, and Maximum flow rate (MFR) was (5.1±2.6) mL/s. 【Results】The duration of the operation was (90±70) min. 9 cases required transfu- sion, mean 400 mL. Time of urine clearance was (2±1) d, and time of postoperative catheterization was (9.5±7.5) d. After operation 2 cases occurred dysuria and retention of urine, 17 cases occurred lower urinary tract symptoms; 8 cases occurred intermittence naked eye hematuria. 96 cases were followed up 3 months~1 year, mean 7 months. IPSS was (7.6±1.2) (t =2.21, P 0.05), QOL was (3±3) (t =3.14, P 0.05), residual urine was (30±5) mL (t =30.11, P 0.001), and Maximum flow rate (MFR) was (16.2 ±2.2) mL/s (t =5.541, P 0.001). 【Conclusions】 Combined transurethral electrovaporization and transurethral resection of the prostate can gain the advantages of the two operations and satisfying result." @default.
