- W2380749966 abstract "Objective:To explore the relationship between the C677T polymorphism of the 5,10-methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase(MTHFR) gene and neural tube defects(NTD).Methods:The C677T polymorphism of MTHFR gene was investigated by polymerase chain reaction-restrictive fragment length polymorphism(PCR-RFLP) in 67 normal children(control group) and 48 fetal with NTs(16 anencephaly,32 spinal bifida)(NTD group).Results:The TT genotype and T allele genotype of MTHFR gene occurred more frequently in NTD group(68.7% and 0.82) than those in controls(31.3%和0.54)(P0.01).The fetal with TT genotype had a more than 6.28-fold increased NTDs risk,compared with the normal child(95%CI:95%CI:2.01～19.62,P0.01).Conclusion:Our data showed that the C677T polymorphism of MTHFR gene should be regarded as a genetic risk factor for NTD." @default.
