- W2381393888 abstract "As many deviated texts produced in the handing-down process of the three books on rituals,Zheng Xuan in late Eastern Han Dynasty made collations and discriminations of those books in addition to his annotation thereto.His principles on the discrimination include letter-meaning appropriateness,understandability and conventionality,rationality,normality and respects to original letters(which is specific to keeping the ancient letters in Yili(Ceremonial Rituals).Zheng collated and annotated the Three Books on Rituals for accurate expression of the classics without impairment to their understandability.Thus his acceptance or rejection of every letter in the classics is based on the rationality and normality of its usage under the given situation,on condition that the original meaning of the ancient letters is kept for restoration of the original version of the ritual books.Consequently the Three Books on Rituals edited by Zheng Xuan was accepted as the best edition in that field and handed up to date.Zheng Xuan’s principles on the collation and annotation may also serve as beneficial references for contemporary filing of classical literatures." @default.
