- W2381463985 abstract "The pursuit for a more sustainable dairy production is extremely important for Santa Catarina, since this activity is present in 70% of the farms and largely practiced under conventional management, which demands large areas of grassland to produce . The pasture degradation is the result of this system, causing as a parallel effect the increasing of deforestation and continued degradation of the Forest Atlantic ecosystems. In the region of Encostas da Serra Geral of Santa Catarina, where is located the city of Santa Rosa de Lima, since the beginning of the past decade, the Voisin Rational Grazing began to be used as a technology to enable the production of pasture-based milk, which resulted in productivity increase , biodiversity and the farmer’s quality of life overall improvement. Nevertheless, it is expected that this system combined with silvopastoral systems could potentially advance these results. The silvopastoral systems are the use of production techniques in which integrate trees, pastures and animals in the same area, aiming for the interaction of its components and resulting in a better sustainable and ecological management capable of generating various ecosystem services. The use of live fence posts is a strategy to introduce trees in the pasture forming living fence that forms a silvopastoral system, hence, conciling practical, productive, economic and environmental attributes. However, before these technologies are adopted, it is necessary to understand what the perception of small dairy farmers is on the potential benefits generated by a silvopastoral system, as well as their perception regarding the use of live fence posts as a tool to restore biodiversity and make production more ecological and cost effective. Another issue to be considered is whether there are differences in the perception of these techniques among producers who adopt and do not adopt of the system Voisin. Thus, the current research focused on the comparative study between dairy farmers under systems Voisin and traditional regarding the understanding and possible adoption of silvopastoral practices, with particular emphasis on the live fence posts of native essences. The perception of farmers was analyzed through a semi structured interview with 35% of dairy farmers in the municipality of Santa Rosa de Lima, which 20 are Voisin adopters and 20 Voisin non-adopters. It was found through interviews that the silvopastoral systems have great potential to enable the agroecological dairy production. There was no" @default.
