- W2384262009 abstract "Objective To study the effects of Vitamin E on ischemic heart disease, heart failure and pathogenesis of oxidative stress. Methods 16 rabbits were divided into 3 groups randomly: sham control group (5), untreated post-MI (PMI) group (5), and Vitamin E group(6). The left circumflex artery of rabbits were ligated without the sham control group to abstain the animal model of myocardial infarction and heart failure. The animals of Vitamin E group were treated with Vitamin E. After 60~70 days, we tested LVEDP, LVPSP, MDA, superoxide dismutase (SOD), glutathione peroxidase (GSH-PX), and atrial natriuretic peptide (ANP) on all the animals. Results ① MDA in the untreated PMI group was increased and SOD, GSH-PX were decreased (P0.05). There was no difference between the sham control group and the Vitamin E group. ② The heart function of the Vitamin E group and the sham control group were superior to that of the untreated PMI group. LVEDP of the untreated PMI group were higher than that of the sham control group (P0 05). LVPSP were lower in the untreated group than in the sham control group (P0.05).The ANP of plasma were higher in the untreated PMI group than in the two other groups (P0.05). Conclusion Occurrence of ischemic heart disease, heart failure and the activity of oxidative free radical can be attenuated by Vitamin E, which can obstruct the evil cycle of oxidative stress in ischemic heart disease and heart failure." @default.
