- W2384485737 abstract "Objective To investigate the effect of electroacupuncture ( EA) on changes of behavior and glutamic acid level in hippocampal tissue in rats with chronic stress.Methods Forty male SD rats were evenly randomized into control group, stress-model group, EA group and Prozac220 group. Chronic stress model was established by using mixed stimulations. One hour before the stress stimulation, EA was applied to baihui(GV20) and yintang(EX-HN1) for 20 minutes, once daily; Prozac220 was given by intragastric administration once daily, both for 21 days. The rats’behavior was observed by using open-ield method and swim. The contents of corticotropin releasing factor (CRF) in the hypothalamic tissue, adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH) in the pituitary, and corticosterone (CORT) in the adrenal tissue and hippocampal tissue were detected by radioimmunoassay. Glutamic acid(Glu) in the hippocampal tissue was detected by electro-chemical detection technique.Results Compared with the control group, the rats' horizontal and vertical movement times decreased significantly and swim stop time increased significantly in the model group. The contents of hypothalamic CRF, pituitary ACTH , adrenal and hippocampal CORT and hippocampal Glu increased remarkably in the model group (P0.05) . In comparison with the model group, the rats’ movement times increased and swim stop time decreased considerably, while CRF ,CORT and Glu contents lowered significantly in both EA and Prozac220 groups(P0.05).Conclusion Chronic stress may cause the stress rats to move less and result in hyperactivity of the HPA axis and high level of Glu in hippocamp, whereas electroacupuncture can promote recovery of the rats' abnormal behavior and regulate the secretion of Glu in hippocampal tissue." @default.
