- W2385208112 abstract "In order to understand the effects of acid rain on seed germination of rice and the reasons of growth and decline dynamics of crop population in acidic deposition area,three varieties seeds of rice(O.sativa) including Tianxie 1,II You 838 and Xu 3 were treated with simulated acid rain(SAR) with pH 2.0,2.5,3.0,3.5,4.0 and 5.0 for 7 days,and neutral solution(pH6.5) as the control group.Five indices including percentage germination,germination energy,germination index and vigor index of the three varieties seeds initially increased and then decreased with the decrease of pH value from 5.0 to 3.0.At pH 3.0,germination index and germination energy of II You 838 were significantly higher than that of the control,the vigor index of Tianxie 1 was less than that of the control group and the differences were statistically significant.No significant differences were observed for all the other indices.Rice seeds germinated only abnormally at pH 2.5 and did not shoot up at pH 2.0.At pH 2.5,there was a significantly negative correlation between stress time(1～7 days) with the values of percentage germination,germination energy,germination index and vigor index while a positive correlation between stress time(1～7 days) and the percentage of abnormal germination.The germination threshold values for three varieties seeds were all between pH 2.5 and 3.5.The stress time when the difference of the five indices between each treatment and the control was significant was 5,2,2,2,4 days for II You 838,4,2,2,2,4 days for Xu 3,and 3,2,2,2,3 days for Tianxie 1 respectively.II Yu 838 had stronger resistance than Xu 3,while Tianxie 1 was most susceptible among the three varieties under acid rain stress,indicating that the three varieties of rice had different sensitivities to acid rain." @default.
